If you’re not using dry fire as an excellent tool to increase your skills, you’re making a mistake. I’m an avid user of LASR software, the Laser Activated Shot Reporter from John and the great folks at LasrApp.com. Version 4.1 came out in late November.
John has some great training videos on his site too. His most recent catalogs the five biggest dry fire myths:
- Dry fire practice is just for beginners or only practicing the basics. Not! You can actually practice dangerous actions (drawing, moving, etc.) with ease.
- Dry fire practice is unproven technology. Not! It’s actually part of the US Army manual of training from the Revolutionary Army in 1775, and earlier.
- Dry fire practice replaces live fire practice. Not! It’s an inexpensive training aid, not a replacement.
- Dry firing damages guns. Not! Rim fires accepted, especially the Beretta Nano, since the rim fire ammo has a RIM the firing pin strikes.
- Recoil affects accuracy. Not! It’s the fear of recoil that affects accuracy.
Let me know if you’re doing dry fire practice – and what you’re doing – regularly.
See you at the range!
