The P-09 is the latest in a line of handguns manufactured by Ceska Zbrojovka, or CZ for short. The company was founded in 1936 in what was then Czechoslovakia and is now the Czech Republic. Early firearms production was for the Czech Army during Word War II, but the company eventually began pursuing the civilian market.
